This is update from my report on the same place (originally posted on April 19) . I went again to Lake Simcoe Marina on April 24.
I am not going to post directions and maps and photos of the place again, you can see this in my first report here:

Arrived there at around 7:20 AM. 5 -6 people were already there fishing. Temperature was about 12 C, slight wind from north, water clear. As soon as I came one of the people fishing there started complaining how fishing was slow & fish was not biting. This was, he explained, due to a wind blowing cold water into marina (?) Anyways, soon enough I discovered that he was saying the truth as fishing was nearly as good as several days ago when I visited last time. You could see large schools of perch swimming around but barely taking any bait.
I was fishing using worms or small minnows under the float. After a while, as it was worming up, fishing started improving. By then, fishermen that arrived early – already started leaving, I guess they were not happy if they do not catch 100+ fish per day, so they considered this day as “slowâ€. Fish being caught, on average, was bit smaller in size comparing to April 19 fishing.
As the weather wormed up, it was getting better and better. I was also using this opportunity to experiment with different fishing methods / tactics, so beside worms and small minnows, I was trying artificial lure (small soft plastic minnow) jig under the float as well as Lindy rig. All methods produced fish; fishing with live small minnow produced the best result by far, while fishing with artificial lure (small soft plastic minnow) jig under the float was the worst by far.
As far as I am concerned, I still had pleasurable trip. I stayed till about 1:20 PM, I did not count, but I think I caught about 30 – 40 fish in total.
Released all but 5 fish, all 5 survived trip back to Toronto and ended up in my bathtub , as you can see it here
(you know – kids like to see them)
Two of them were bit larger, about 11†or so, and about 1lb, you can see them here :
I like perch, it tastes very good, but I really dislike cleaning it so I rarely eat it. This time I thought, let me try make fish fillets out of it. I have never done this before, so it was a struggle at first but in the end, I think I made it all right as you can see here:
Final result -as my younger son would say: “Mmmmm, mighty tastyâ€
Mighty tasty was this lake Simcoe perch, indeed!
