I did catch a 27 inch steelhead trout at too good pond. Unfortunately out of season but that was one of my climaxes of my lifetime. The fish wouldn't even fit in my white bucket and I had no net. I went into the waters to wrestle it to the shore lol it was too big...

Berczy Park is excellent for cats carps crappie sunfish and bass. However the water again is unclean. There are also free tennis courts, park space for kites, soccer field, basketball courts, baseball diamond, football field space, a public washroom, a parking lot and is also excellent for bird watching.

If there are carp jumping, they are taking bugs off the surface! Flies will work!

2 years ago I tried Too Good Pond and was fishing mini catfish for fun, but a huge carp bit my lure but it broke my line as it I was pulling in it. It was huge and swam under a log. There are still many carp there, I've tried fishing them, but then don't seem to bite, I think they are grass carp, only vegetarians and eat the algae and stuff. I got ti with a worm. 8 years ago, I caught bass, white suckers and rainbow trout that were decent size, but a lot has changed since then. Alot of huge jumping carp at Too Good Pond nowadays that don't seem to bite, I've tried corn, but some people use bread etc... But personally using corn and bread feels stupid as if nothing will ever bite, I prefer minnows to catch Bass.

Final warning: Beware the Markham red fire ants if you are fishing at these ponds. Their bites hurt very much and is toxic in high amounts. They will crawl onto your body and bite you nonstop. Wear boots to prevent from climbing up your pants. If bite by red ants 3 times are more, go home and shower and quit. Pick a safe spot with no red ants. If they bother me I may try to raid them.

i tried milne too, no luck at all. It was at a good time too, i fished it there on a canoe ( horrible place for launching a canoe btw) in late august last year using spoons, berkely gulp minnows and even bass pro crack craws and no luck at all. I heard that there are salmon running around in there which came from lake ontario. not to be captain obvious, but I suggest not keeping any of the salmon from lake ontario as i heard that the water is pretty polluted. if you are fishing for salmon to eat, go to the goergian bay. I live just south of hwy 7 right on yonge next to uplands golf course. There is a nice looking river running in the ravine there, anyone fished there before or know if any fish exist in that river?
Do they allow canoeing in Markham waters? Too good Milne etc. I'm interested!!!! Btw, I caught a bass the size of my hands from shoreline at Milne dam with a live minnow. If canoeing you should try to cast towards shoreline and pull deep. Let me know if you catch anything. I heard rumours of pike in Milne, never verified.

A Healthy Markham Bass. Practice catch and release so they can reproduce and grow large and bigger than you can practice plastics and colours on these contaminated fish for recreational catch and release, and teach your kids to fish. Before going up to the cottage/lake where the water is clean.

Sidenote: Always tell your kids to wear sunglasses when fishing to prevent a hook in the eye, for safety.

Markham Berczy Park Chub - these minnow are from the river, they feed the larger fish like Bass, Crappie and Catfish, but there are jumbo ones too. Catch for fun, do not use as live bait in other waters. Do not use as bait for bass either, worms will suffice. It is the universal bait for all species in markham, even trout.

Markham White Suckers - in every pond/river. They school together in some ponds counted maybe 40 of them together in my area. Also lots of giant red horse suckers as well. Practice catch and release. Some of these die and float to shore to become fertilizer. It's because they eat the dirt and pollutants at the bottom and eventually die... Do not eat these fish. Fish scientists use suckers to test if the water has chemicals/ pollutants etc. the bigger the fish the more bioaccumulation occurs. HOWEVER, THEY PUT UP QUITE THE FIGHT. FISH FOR FUN IN MARKHAM, NOT FOOD!!!!!
