Mild spell

With so much of the rivers being frozen over when they flood on Thursday and Friday there will be a lot of ice flowing down the river !! Saturday or Sunday may be fishable but the. You will be fighting the cold again

2x or 3x up your float size. e.g. if you normally would rock a 5g on east ditch rock a 10-15g and bulk shot the crap out of your line. Punch it down through the slush. FISH ON!!!

This^

I had some trouble a couple weeks ago with the slush when a mild spell hit and someone here kindly gave me this tip...

was back to catching fish and being happy shortly after ;)

have fun!

probably won't be fishable till sunday. warmth will make the ice start melting, then it is minus 10 thursday night, so it will freeze again, then warm again on friday will make the water blown, but night will start to freeze more again, then same cycle, so by sunday water should be some what fishable since it is positive. but might be muddy and high, if not, straight murky, there might be some rivers that clear up faster and be fishable, but you will probably have less water to cover anyways.

there is a storm coming from south west that might also hit us. if you have not fished in winter, i tell you from personal experience, no matter how hardcore you are,how much paste you use on your guides and line, the shear amount of line freeze, your float not being in the right path or depth, lack of ability to cast properly, lack of fishable water from ice, will not make your day any better than if you would stay home relaxing.

I had a friend that got frost bite from fishing in winter, lost his sense of touch in two fingers and can never get his sensitivity back. stay home wait for march. unless one entire week will be positive night and day, not worth it imo.

Water is already rising yesterday sunday was good.lots of fish just gotta. Get out there

PM sent. All I can say is that the shelf ice is unpredictable. It may support you in one area and then let go in another. A fish is not worth anyones life, but I still heard of people fishing off the end section of these shelves.

not sure where you are seeing +temps, but the nights will be - and daytime too on the weekend, -1 being the highest +2 tomorrow and friday, the eastern ditches will be at least mostly frozen, huron tribs, very slushy but fishable if you are crazy, lol jk, GO ICE FISHING INSTEAD!!!

not much for fish though. Its been very slow. other then the last 2 days mornings have been - 15 + that's harsh weather for even the fish.

Wait, I think that's code for between all the behemoth fresh run steel, he's been getting into muskies and sturgeons like crazy.

damn. I was thinking of heading duffsssssss tromorrow afternoon or sunday afternoon. Id think the ice melted off by now with these temps and rain. My office view is righ onto lake Ontario, and most of the ice has started to significantly melt off.
