Heres my story.

Fshing a creek, stacked with people, stacked with fish, low clear conditions. Found a spot and started trying to floss some fish. Seeing how everyone was floating roe sacs I tossed on a plastic and flossed away. While releasing a fish, I noticed some discarded fish innards in the water got hung up on a twig. Oh how eloquantly it swayed in the current, dancing with the river. I cut away a peice, tied that sucker onto my hook and off it went. Remember the low and clear water, oh yeah, darn fish shot upstream a good ten feet and smashed my bait, second drift, second fish, third drift nothing... fourth drift nothing... seems like the stupid fish caught on to my presentation <_< So down stream I walked, each pool, couple of fish, and kept walking down. As my brother would put it, suicide delicousness!

Moral of the story is:

Reminding me of a couple of my previous girl friends, these fish will put just about anything in their mouths.

Rip on someone for poaching in one thread and then brag about flossing in another?

Don't hijack the thread.

For the record...

1. I didn't rip on anyone. In fact, I helped the bugger out, could of saved him from getting a ticket, so like duhhhh, now he techincally owes me some money.

2. Flossing isn't illegal, poaching is.

3. 4 words to live by "Floss like a boss"

4. YEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWW :)

5. I presume the fish were flossed because the hook was always in the corner of the mouth

I once used frozen corn to catch bows & jacks in Owen Sound.

Another time I was visiting some friends in Kingston & Joyceville... In between visits, we stopped to fish the bay only to realize that we had no bait. Used pieces of chewed Pink bubble gum to catch Perch.
-We were quite successful

what a topic

How high is your horse??? In case most of you haven't realized, our fellow angler is a comical being, and says a lot of things he does to get some sort of reaction from gullible individuals. Keep it up dozer, you're weeding out the humorless, and keeping the humourful happy!

Back to the topic, I got a chinny downrigging with a mister twister salamander when I was a wee lad, thought that was kind of funny, I ran one everytime for years to follow, lol.

what a topic

No way! In fact total opposite the way I see it, I want to hear others stories, who knows maybe it will spark an idea for some... questions for others...

For instance, frozen corn, does it come out the other end unprocessed like it does for us?

Dozer has been unfairly victimized by my tagging of him with the moniker...
"snagger"

When I was growing up catching specks tru the ice with a hunk of fatback pork or a piece of naval beef wasn't considered odd at all. I have caught specks on the rod with the eyes of the ones caught earlier. My bro aught some specks this year on bacon fat.

I've had people tell me they caught trout with bread balls and with bacon, never tried myself though.

Next time you find yourself fishing a typical panfish location, try just jigging and moving your hook around beneath and on the surface of the water as though it were a fly

Hmm bunches, not really odd bait, just more like bait that you wouldnt expect to catch each species on:

a 3-4 lb largemouth bass on corn, to be fair I saw her swimming with some carp and I started jigging my carp bait, lol

a 10 lb channel cat casting a spinnerbair at some stumps

crucian carp and a very large bullhead while simming jigs

some unidentified fish in the dominican on small pieces of steak

I have also seen a guy catch a 12-15lb carp on a little cleo spoon wile fishing for browns, the spoon was inhaled, it was hard to get it out.

Caught a 3lb Smallmouth on corn and caught smallmouth and perch on single hooks with no bait when the bite was on.

Dude you can smash fish....LEGALLY......fishing a drop shot roe bag.....you need to get to thr sault......i pride myself on my snagging ability...all done under a float with a size #16 no one will ever know but me how many nooks succummed to the brass choronomid.

IF you ever go out to ALBERTA /BC (at the time was in Calgary)
And head past Banff towards Radium BC ....

You will come to DOLLY VARDEN.

Beautiful little mountain river.

THE BULL TROUT just go balistic over BACON (The white sinewy part)

Just rig it like a worm (Never falls off the hook) and fish the deep pools by log jams.

BEST BAIT that i EVER USED! Period. (Out there - wouldnt use anything but)

Used to watch guys with $1000 float and fly setups not even come close to what me and my brother would land in a day.

100% catch and release (Barbless hooks) on all those wonderful WILD BULL TROUTS! (Big ones would be in the 10lb range)

They have "Funny" hooked jaws (Like males spawners .... but all the time)

Can you imagine if you tried bacon and eggs?

I was going to give mountain ash berries a try next year---I thought they would be nice 'beads'
