Well hello there, and we all know what time of year is this. I'd this thread to be whatever anyone wants to talk about. But I'd like see posts of any good rigs, posts about water conditions, and general salmonid run info. Cheers!

Thats a tough poll. In my region, I prefer catching trout, any trout. However, there are many different types of salmon I would love to target as well... but yeah, my vote goes to trout.

My vote goes to trout, like the D-man said

Trout as well for me - however my vote is somewhat biased. I've only ever been able to fish in the lakes for salmon when I was on a charter as a kid - didn't find it all that fun, really. I've wanted to try going after salmon on a fly during their runs, but am yet to experience it. Maybe once I have one on the end of my fly-rod I may change my mind - for now, though, I'm going to stick with the trout!

My vote goes to trout ofcourse, what shore angler wouldnt prefer trout???

Now if we were talking about downrigging on the great lakes it would have to be salmon hands down.

I'll take a coho or Atlantic over a steelhead in the tribs.

I think this question has no easy answer from me. If I could catch just one, it'd be Atlantics. They look like browns, they spawn multiple times like trout, they are silver like steelhead, they fight like hell and are a salmon. Best of all worlds.

Pacific salmon can be really finicky inside rivers, which is why I have an easier time catching trout. It's also my personal preference

Hey I've got one of those empties sittin' right next to me. Second best thing out of Humboldt county.

That's a beauty brown, congrats! Is there a story to go with it?

You should try it this year, and post your pic here, I'd love to see it. People tell me they have success on the green yarn flies. Keep us posted!
