Hey guys, I have a chance to pick up an older Revo STX. Does anyone use these? And what do you think of them? I see the reviews are really good. Thanks.

How much will you have to spend? What will you be fishing? I looked at them when I bought my baitcaster in the spring and opted for a shimano. The revo is pretty small/low profile but I didn't really like how it sat in my hand. A lot of it is preference so go in store and see if you like it.

Got it for $50. Found out he put the Boca bearings in it too. Figured I couldn't go wrong for that price. Even if I don't like it I can flip it pretty easily. Its a Gen2 so I can't try it out in store but I've tried the Gen3's and liked the feel of them. Shimano and Abu's are my preference. I love my Curado and missed out on a deal on a new Citica earlier this year. What Shimano did you end up getting?

Definitely can't go wrong for $50. It's a great reel especially for that price.

I ended up going with the Curado 301e and paired it with a 7' MH St Croix Premier. My brother in law had a Curado and I used it a lot last summer...fell in love and had to get my own. I also have a Shimano Symetre 2500 spinning reel on a 7' Shimano Scimitar rod so I use that for bass and smaller pike and use the Curado for bigger pike (and hoping to use it on my first musky outing this summer).

Which Curado do you have and on what kind of rod?

That's an awesome setup! Those Curados are sweet. Ive never tried a St. Croix (and could never really afford one) but have had my eye on those Premiers and the Mojo Bass. Maybe in the future. I wanna pick up another Abu Veritas to pair with this Revo. So I picked up the Revo tonight and the seller was a pretty cool guy. Turns out he's pro and was clearing out older stock. He threw in a bunch of new packages of worms and frogs, plus 5 or 6 brand new spinnerbaits, some scum frogs, and rod sleeves. I ended up with about $50 worth of new gear! Lol.

I've got an older Curado-cu200 (greenie) that I've had for years now and it's still smooth as ever. It's paired with a 6'10 Compre, which I use for Pike as well. For Bass I've got an Orra sx/Veritas, Quantum Pro Advantage/Vengeance, and a Shimano Bass One Mag (from the 80's) that's still going strong. Lol. (I use it for deeper crank baits as its a slower retrieve).

I have a 7' Scimitar as well, but have a Shimano Sienna 2500 on it. Also got a 6'7 MH Rapala Xrap combo, and a Quantum combo that are my backups. I picked up a Pflueger paired with a 6'10 Fenwick Goldwing this winter and it's my favourite spinning setup. Im a fan of Fenwick rods now and am gonna pick up another one for sure.

Where abouts are you going Muskie Hunting?
