There is some good deals on Simms headwater and pro sling packs at sail. All sold out in Ottawa but they're 64.99 down from 139.99 for whoever is looking.

Now speaking of slings do you guys use sling / waist packs or vests?

I use a backpack for float fishing, I bought a plano box, took the trays out and I carry 2 trays, one full of beads and hooks, the other full of floats. I have a lindy rigger and put my shots in there. The backpack also acts as a front pack if you're wading and need to retie.

I used a vest for 40 years , but I've switched to a sling pack. Trouble is it holds more than the vest did, which means I didn't cut down on what I carry.

haha, isnt that always the way?

I used a small shoulder sling pack from MEC but it didn't fit some of my boxes so I picked up the Simms one.

I guess depends how far u end up going or if you're staying in one spot.

I have that pack and I love it!... All my gear a sandwich and 2 beers, no problem. :) there are two side pockets that hold water bottles or gaterade....very important

I believe they are an in store... texted a few people I used to work with and they are saying its just old stock in certain stores... Check the website for availability at your local store

I have had the hip, cheat and the sling pack
The Willian Josep access chest pack gets in the way.
Hip pack is bulky to me SImm Headwaters
Now I have the Patagonia sling pack I just bought from this forum.
It has a ton of room and it moves out of the way when you do not need it.

I'm pretty happy for the price.. Decent deal would have been happier with the bigger pack but beggars can't be choosers
