Salmon pier fishing 2016

I fished a 2500 ci4+ for a couple years on the pier, its fine with 15lb braid... I basically look for a capacity of 150 yard for pier chucking, I havent been spooled yet

^^^
How do you like your Ci4+? I held one and I can't believe how light it is. I would like to purchase one if the price is right. My only concern I have is the drag. From what I've been told, the drag doesn't do to well when fighting bigger fish. I hear it's not smooth and it pulses.

I might be able to get a Ci4+ 2500 bnib $230

The CI4 + is my second stradic and I love it. Bought the 2500 size because I use it for walleye and trolling (initially). Day after I bought it and spooled it up, I caught a 44" Musky in a northern lake aha. No problems with the drag at all, just loosen the drag (completely) when your storing it over winter or not using it for long periods of time!

Diawas are notorious for the "best drag systems" but Shimano is a close second and the Stradic is a best value in my opinion for someone that fishes as often as I do!

Being as the 2500ci4+ is actually lighter than the 1000fj I have on now.
Going to take her out of the box and switch em up.
Save me retaping the 1000 back on every time I put it on the UL or ice rod.

I went to a west tributary of Lake Ontario Yesterday. We did some leg work and walked the creek for at least 2kms we eventually saw three King Salmon in a pool. I almost caught one but my drag wasn't ready :-/ The fish are here in but not in great numbers, so if u want to fish for them, you can but you have to do some leg work to find the newcomers. For our Brown trout anglers I also saw a two footer in there also.

Wasn't on the pier exactly but was trolling along it in my kayak last night on an East trib. There were hundreds jumping non stop all night. They were everywhere. Never seen that many fish in one area. Ive seen alot of cool things and had some amazing experiences on the water but last night topped it. A couple times the fish would go airborne and hit the yak bounce off and swim away. They would get 4 or 5 feet in the air right beside you. So close we could have probably punched them outta the air. I was fully prepared to take an airborne 30 pounder off the head lol

I went 3 for 6. 1 spooled me, 1 broke a rod and another broke a buddy's rod. All on glow spoons down 20ft off the cannon ball. We took a few pics they are not the sharpest as the waves were throwing us all over the place but you get an idea. I took some vids to in the dark but you can't see much.... just hear a screaming drag lol

darn, that's crazy. What size reel were you running that got you spooled?
A little quantum spin cast. Landed one on it.... was coming in along the pier the second time. One struck.... Started ripping line. I'm usually good at turning on them and running them down but I couldn't gain on this guy. Took 300yds of line in about 15 seconds.... Bee line straight out into the lake

This rain will push fish in now
Yes... we left just before it started raining early this morning and they were already flying up the river as we were coming in... stopped on the river bank to take the yaks out and they were all around us.... they will be in in massive numbers today... at least that trib they will

Looks like you had a blast CB.
Mooching reel sounds good for the Yak.
Holds enough line to get to T.O .

I have 2 others that I normally use on the yak that hold over 1000yds each. This was my spin cast that I use for chucking spoons. Got tired of throwing the big spoon so I clipped it on my rigger and dropped it 20ft. First one hit and took off like a rocket...ran that one down. The second one hit and turned on the nitrous and was gone before I was fully turned around. I tipped my hat to that one and accepted defeat.
