I vote in favour of the weekend , maybe even stay the night and fish Sunday too depending on the conditions.
The wife will be happy to be rid of me for a day or two . The Riverside Motel is where we usually stay when we hit the Saugeen .
I will definately be drifting.... we're bringing the extra gear , in case anyone would like to try fishing with a float reel who hasn't already .

I'll be bring my rods just incase it could be used if not then I'll be taking pictures for Everyone and learning :)

Hey Notta that sounds like a good call. Maybe we can get a group rate at the motel if we get enough commitments. And make this an annual thing. The Riverside is S'hampton, correct? A company I used to work for doing outside work used to save all the jobs in Windsor for the winter, Windsor being the banana belt of On. We had 5 crews down there and got a great rate on our motel and had a lot of fun every evening when we got back to home base.
I'd love to try a float reel, I mostly simulate float fishing with my 11.5 St Croix when fishing Chrome using a spinning reel but I'm sure it is not the same. I'll also be bringing a fly rod.
I just did some checking and the Saugeen is open to Walkerton until Dec. 31 so that gives us a lot of good, fishable water.
I sure hope this outing will happen as I spent so much time up in that area during my teens and 20's. Not so much lately, but still once in a while. The Saugeen is a great river system.

Alfie.

let notta take pics lol. you two are gettin in the river
.
haha :) I guess we're going in then haha :p

But If we can make this an annual thing I think I'll become a beautiful community and more and more members will head out and get together. We can have BBQ and stuff!! Sounds just like camping :D

I just got my class sched so im busy monday to wensday. Thursday, friday, sat, sun im free.. Thats my schedule until december nice aint it, 4 days out of a week fishing and hunting not too shabby.
If im not going to be in owen sound those dates ill be in toronto so if anyone needs a ride or something im happy to take ya up there. I got a truck so if you need anything hauled or towed no problem
Ill be hitting the saugeen up and the near by tribs next week during the weekdays maybe weekend too. I need to start getting ready for turkey and deer season, so i need to put up feeders on my land and tree stands and clean a bunch of guns, although this year im bow hunting baby

Hey Rap
I'll ride with ya if you got the room for fly, noodle and my gear (waders). What you going to fishing with? Thanks.

I would prefer weekday over weekend as well. Not sure if we can change the date, I was under the impression some already booked days off work

Well im definately booking more than a few days off work on October for steelheading so why not just have a round two?

I got room for 2 people, fromt passenger and rear passenger, only got one seat in the back cause my dog is coming along too. My bed in the back will be empty so got more than enough room for anything.

... will I be stoned to death if I show up with jigs??? tiny tubes etc....

so if i'm able to get to the saugeen, weekday or weekend either would work.as for gear i would bring a drift setup, fly setup and even a hardware rig.i'm still really new with drift and fly gear as i only make a couple of trips to some rivers each year and have not been able to get into any fish using those techniques.again all depends on work if i can get a few days off.man if i end up going it''s a long haul for me.

Its a long haul for most, but take my word for it, you will learn a lot on this trip which will help you in the long run. There is a bit to know about drifting and having people show you will speed things up.
