Shot one of these today. Anyone want the tail to tie flys? Not sure how I'd send it out without spoiling it still has the tail bone in it. If anyone local wants it let me know. It's in the freezer now.
I'd take it if it was a bigger tail, the kind you see in the states. I have too many of that kind, if anyone is thinking about it pull the bone out with pliers then fill the tail with borax and leave it for a couple of weeks, then freeze, thaw and refreeze to kill any parasites and you'll be good to go
FYI Kit, Squirrel is not in season right now. They do have a specific hunting season as stated in the hunting regs book. I wouldn't be taking game out of season and advertising it on a public forum that's for sure.
Squirrel tail = roadkill, a plastic bag, disposable gloves, garden shears.
There is no meat in a squirrel tail, just hang in the garage for a couple of weeks until it is dry and hard.
Wash with shampoo and it is clean, shiny, and easy to work with.

Yeah I know its not.. They tend to cause damage on my property. When they do that its fair game like anything else.. They open in the fall and I go out and hunt them regularly some good eating there. Sorry I should of specified why I shot it.
I usually remove the tail bone just by cutting down the backside of the tail a little ways.
