NICE combo ALN! you're gonna love that rig, no doubt about it.

as for some of the tackle recommendations.....size 4 hooks? man what are you guys fishing for.. LOL

the biggest hook i will use for steelhead is a #10, and to be honest in most instances it's a #12. pair that with a 4-5lb fluoro lead and you'll be smashing fish all day.
the number of hookups skyrocketed for me once i switched from 6lb to 4lb. just food for thought!

good luck out there :)

Thanks for all the tips! When I get time off school I'm going to start looking for line and spooling this reel myself. Anymore tips and recommendation are welcome! Its'll help me hook into my fish which I want :D muhhahaha

anyone have any thought on the P-line CXX fluorescent green? ( http://p-line.com/product_detail.php?id=99 ) im thinking about getting that or the crystal clear. im just wondering if fluorescent light will spook fish. If not then i'll like to see my own line and have other see it to, to minimize mix up and tangles.

I have fresh spool of 10lb pline cxx that I'm not going to use. It's moss green. Will let it go for cheap if you want it.

if you fish alot of heavy cover ( logjams and overhangs) i really like berkley ironsilk for its abraision resistance and decent floating one app of chapstick to start the day and ur good too go. dont get flouro for main cause it sinks and will make for poor drifts and hooks sets .

Hey ALN, I've used the p-line cX flouro green and love it. I wouldnt use the cXX though. Can be a little stiff. The only reason why I dont use it here in canada because its not worth the price to ship it here. Love it though😟

just a quick question anyone ever try the Siglon F? on a pin and all its weird colours? how it is and is it worth getting compare to some of the suffix line or the p-line?

when i tried f i found it very brittle, ff is better. if you want laserline go with raven you get lots for the money and its good, same with ande

What's lazer line? Sorry I'm still new to all these terms lol. Just looking for a good low memory line that's hi vis :p

Thinking of getting some neo tangerine suffix line :p my friend has some but not alot so I'm still gunna have to buy some either way.

Anyone know where I can get some dacron in Toronto or Oshawa? And what brand to recommand? I been visiting gagnon sports and will have time to head over there to get more info on lines :)

Suffix is decent, I use the smoke green in 10lb. The only issue I have is that it beds horribly after every fish, which becomes annoying. Remember, when your using high vis on clearer days you're going to want to tie a shot line in addition to your leader.

Order dacron from centerpinangling, he has a bunch of different colours.

Thanks for the tips :) I'm going to be ordering some backing in and seeing of basspro has some good hi via mainline I get buy this weekend :) can't wait to get this spool

Congrats,I got my setup last month from centrepinangling, same RV9 rod different reel, good knowelageable guy IMO.Spooled it for me and threw in some hardware in exchange for shipping. Very helpful for a novice like myself, love the rod, just gotta be careful walking around with the long pole bushwhacking, wants to catch every tree.Hey CJR, for the shot line do you go float-swivel-shot line(length?)-leader(No shot?Length?)

I don't run it anymore since I dont use high vis.

I'd do, swivel, float onto the shot line. length usually 2-3 feet, then swivel, leader, maybe a few tiny split shots on it, and the length varied depending on the depth of the water I was fishing.

Thanks, sometimes it's hard to tell if the bait's ahead of the float, I check it visually but sometimes streamside flow is different than where it drifts. Good thing is I'm finding them where I think they'll be, just not tempting them enough. One rolled 3 times in an hour in the pool right in front of me just when I had to leave. Such is life.
