Superstitions

Never go without one of my 3 lucky hats (caps). Never caught fish without them. Last year went out few times not wearing hat no fish

When I started fishing, I often wore the same pair of pale blue jeans, usually whenever I wasn't wearing shorts. They got so torn, slimed, and bloodied, and the more I wore them the more I loved them.

Now, they are about as soft as a kleenex. I haven't worn them for a long time, as they got a little bit too torn. Definitely attribute some of my early success with fishing to the magic of those jeans.

For me it is the knot I tie on my lure. When getting skunked I will flip flop between different lures and different knots.

The finding baits,lures or fly superstition....
I'll definitely give that one a shot from here forward, I have a buddy who always gives me grief for
my ability to restock my vest while on the rivers.

hehe did that this spring, kept getting caught on a tree branch, never broke off on it though, went and pulled the branch out, got 6 flies off of it

another one is a weigh scale, every time my buddy brings it with him, skunked, when he leaves it home on in the truck we have a good day

Based on recent 1st hand experience, I now have a 'No Fishing under or within 100 feet of bridges and overpasses.'

May I ask what happened? I sometimes fish under bridges, is there something I should know? I get a lot of fish under and around bridges.

Wow!! I didn't see the earlier report until just now. That would certainly shake me.
Reminds me of 2 summers ago fishing an Eastern Superior trib. A friend (very drunk.) wanted to jump off a 25 ft high, hi-way 17 bridge. He wanted to ride the current. From the bridge you could see the water was no more than 5 ft at the deepest. I had to physically stop him.
He was 21 and at work used to make jokes like, have you ever seen a 20 yo beat up a 50 yo with me in fun. Well he experienced a 50 yo beating up a 21 yo that day.

Catching a big fish as the first fish of the day is usually bad luck for me. I always notice I have bad luck after that and usually pack it up after not catching anything for a few hours lol.

If I decide to take a break from Fishing and go for a Swim in Unknown Waters.... I test the depth with my Right or Left Foot Only. :blink:

i think maxwedge mentioned this earlier in the post, but for me has to be the net superstition so if i bring it along i'm screwed and if i leave at home or in the car i'm screwed :angry:
