salmon expert at the show was saying something like 30 return from 1 million fingerlings being released.

If they were to stock that many steelhead, we'd have guys coming from New York to fish in Ontario

That's encouraging seeing an Atlantic, what size approximately and how was the fight?

I'd give it 5lb. i knew it was something different on the other side of the line didn't know for sure till i got him in closer and had a better look. He made some very good runs but no jumps thank god, i lost one last fall on hes 3d jump. think the colder water shuts them down as well.

Have not seen you out for some time thought you gave it up for the winter lol

i've been out just diff. locations  once it warms up u will see me down there more often

unfortunately most the mnr energy is going into the atlantic salmon restoration. they found a strain that might live, about a 10 year process. all for former glory we had once. they stock million of steelhead and brown all over ontario. i was talking about 1 million in one river. i think there is about 3 for sure and 2 maybe rivers that they are trying out atlantic in eastern tribes. that guy was saying if they do that with coho, our salmon fishery would amazing and fight well and actually eat/take bait, vs chinook that rarely eat and take bait, and most people "catch" them.

More coho's would be awesome. I haven't seen many, but the few that I have were willing biters. Nooks will bite too though, I know this because I accidentally end up catching many when I'm swinging plugs for steelhead.

btw those are great photos float^drifter!

Sorry, not a fish. Took this last fall while I was in the river after getting the feeling I was being watched... no more than 15 feet from me

The coho runs used to be great. They are a ton of fun to catch, and I would much rather they dump the Atlantic program, and stock cohos. They have been trying to return Atlantics almost as long as I've been steelheading, and it's not working out for them. Time to round file the program!

Beauty Atlantic, very encouraging to see!

Looks like you had some nice water there FD.
