Ice steel is the bomb man done it tons this winterBowSlayer said:Nice fish guys! I managed to get out for steel as well, did quite well compared to the 15 other guys who skunked out!IMG_20150319_151019.jpgIMG_20150319_123302.jpgIMG_20150319_103542.jpgIMG_20150322_134828.jpg !IMG_20150322_134715.jpg
I did that a bit but mostly the areas I fished were too deep and normally less than two feet of vis. One notable day they were cruising right under the ice in 12' of water and my buddy was hooking one after another on spey flies less than a foot under the ice.BowSlayer said:Ya man, I love it, being able to see them swim up and grab your bait is so cool!
The tribs I fished often run with some color and didn't clear up until huron froze right over. I only fished very close or on the open lake so no current other than lake swells. Yeah almost all guys were plunking roe, while that accounted for some of my fish I got more jigging. I had so much fun getting them through the ice I'm not that excited to combat fish the open water this spring lolBowSlayer said:Ya, the times I got real close to the current, it was very murky, I fished mainly 6-10'. Those flies work awesome for them under the ice eh?! Best part is, most guys don't even think about trying them for ice fishing!
