felt the same way. spotted a nice size pike on the shallow (about 5')...i threw him the buffet table he was having none of it.

Don't worry what trout thinks, I sure don't. But that is a huge bass and probably put up one heck of a fight. I love to watch Dave Mercer. This proves right place right time and luck, if it was all skill then it should be Dave holding the bass.

The key here is to keep trying and not be shy to meet up with someone who can tell you how to set your rig up properly/correctly. We all have knowledge in one area that others may be lacking. Having a opened mind and ready to learn that's when there are members here who are willing to help out. I am grateful for all and any help that I have received. No shame in not knowing how to catch a difficult prey like trout. It is a challenge that I and probably many have quit trying to catch. I'm not saying you are ready to quit, but it is a matter of timimg, skill and luck in equal parts. Don't let it discourage you.

Good luck and keep at it.

LOL..yeah, I'm a real wall flower and shy...LOL! I've been learning lots from the forum and figure it's just a matter of time/luck/knowledge and being at the right place at the right time! Being a computer geek is all about keeping an open mind and being ready to learn so I have no issues there. No quitting here...lol...I'm going to keep plugging away and sooner or later...it will be my time!

Cheers!

LOL...I know when I saw the steelies in the water the one thought I had was...ok ya little bastiches...next time I'm bringing my bow!

The big guys are feeding voraciously right now, getting ready to hunker down for the winter.
Watch your seasons - don't get caught with something out of season in your area...that could get expensive!

I believe this fish was caught on the U.S side of Erie. But for those in zone 16 have until november 30th. The only time I've caught bass out of season was on a huron trib when fishing trout I caught a 3lbs smallie on roe. And through the ice while fishing for Eyes and Pike.

Thanks for sharing. You know I respect those who post their skunkings. I have had several outings where I was skunked. And have also lost many, many lures in trees, submerged logs, rocks. Anyways, keep trying is all I can say. Every time I get out I try to learn something. And sometimes all I learn is patience and persistence.

True, bass ends Nov. 30th in 16 - In my comment, I was mostly referring to wielding flies in trout waters. Certain areas closed end of September.

Also true, most places close a majority of river/stream and people can never be to careful when it comes fishing regulations. I've personally read the regs front to back but still find myself re checking the regs on water ways I fish less frequent.

Stop biting? Pikes a warm water species and I get lots through the ice. I've also pulled smallies up through the ice aswell. They may be sluggish but definatly dont stop eating. Try fishing areas you wouldn't normally find them in the summer. I have Dave Mercer on my F.B and he just posted pics of some huge smallies from Lake Erie.

Well i'd like you to come down to the grand river in caledonia or dunnville to catch bass. Also go to the chippawa while your near it. After i'd like to see some pics.

As I always enjoy a challenge unfortunatly I dont have time to make it down there in the next 10 days before Bass season closes. Just because it cold doesn't mean fish stop biting.

WELL THEN WHY HAVE I NOT CAUGHT A BASS THERE IN OVER 6 WEEKS????????????? I fish that area almost every weekend of the year, i know where the fish are and i know what to use to catch them.

Thays because your trying for them in areas where you find them in the SUMMER. When water temps drop vegitation dies and the body of water "Turns over". Like I said try differemt areas and different tactics then you normaly would in the summer.

I do try different areas.
