Toronto island fishing

I read a flyer about fishing at centre island and how there's the boat house with rods to borrow and bait to buy but when I went there today they weren't selling bait and there were no professionals to advise for where to fish and also the boats have no motor only paddle... They lent me a rod though with a fake rubber grub bait and I explored to find the waters extremely weedy and catch nothing but saw alot of catfish and perch minnows. Are the Toronto island a good place to fish as advertised?

The flyer says the fish there are safe to eat, but it's connected to lake Ontario, I will never eat anything from there but what is your opinion? I just want to nail a huge pike for the wall.

lol maybe the flyer was referring to perch...sure technically its safe to eat one or two servings per month, but there are much cleaner waterbodies to eat from.

Lol I'm just gonna go to island to see if I can get some extremely massive mountable fish like a pike or small mouth, anything else, I'll release and head to mc Donalds for a fillet o fish aftEdwards lol
