[SIZE=8pt]Five important public meetings are slated for this October and November around an exciting new initiative to create an Urban Recreational Fisheries Plan for Greater Toronto and Area. The planning process is being lead by the Ministry of Natural Resources and four Conservation Authorities – Toronto and Region, Credit Valley, Central Lake Ontario, and Ganaraska Region – and effectively covers the north shore of Lake Ontario from the western border of the City of Mississauga extending to the eastern border of Durham Region. Other partners in the process are the municipalities, federal and provincial agencies and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=8pt] The plan will integrate information on the state of the fisheries and their habitat with existing plans and strategies to create a document to guide the partners and other interested parties in improving urban recreational fishing opportunities. The plan will look at improving access to shoreline fishing, taking a systematic approach to improving fish habitat, and promote the diverse fishing opportunities available along the waterfront.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=8pt]The fall meetings will present a draft of the plan to the public. Public feedback will be incorporated into the plan, which is scheduled to be completed spring of 2014.[/SIZE]

salmon and trout anglers are frustrated by the amount of poaching on the streams and rivers.
if you want something done about it show up at this public meeting....not one or two guys representing 100 but 100 guys expressing that the problem is way bigger than the MNR is giving attention to it. The more effort that anglers make in communicating Their concerns on poaching the more likelihood that your complaints will be heard. Complaining on a forum creates awareness and discussion...calling the MNR informs someone on the frontlines there is a problem...they may not have the resources to help.
Showing up in person at an official MNR TRCA public meeting asking for your input is where your complaints will be heard by senior staff that are involved in writing the regulations, enforcing them, and allocating the budgets for enforcement staff. Want the biggest impact for your complaint....show up to one of the 5 meetings and politely express it during discussion time in the last hour of the public meeting. Please empower yourselves by making this effort...you can make a difference with poaching problems this way.
