a short walk to the river
Just wondering what everyone's favorite wading boots are and what you do to keep your feet warm? I have some old chola's over breathables with neoprene feet but have had a couple of brutal days lately. They're more a summer or fall boot methinks, even with nice merino socks underneath allowing near freezing water to surround your feet is not a good idea.

Grab some ski socks or even fleece socks. I have used ski socks and they make a huge difference if you find your feet cold with them add another pair of regular socks also you could try the feet warming packs.

i have a pair of korkers....great boot, very light weight, and kept my feet warm last sunday with just a pair of ankle high athletic socks

I have generic basspro wading boots. White river fly shop or what ever their house brand is. They are great. No complaints! I ski close to 100 days a year also, so my feet at used to the cold anyways, I don't feel it. But using ski socks will help you! There are alot of theorys that suggest double wrapping socks actually decreases what you think it will do and makes your feet colder. I dont know.

also, this time of the year.. try not to be standing in the water lol.

goodentight had a great point and such a simple one - try to stay out of the water lol.
it was difficult for me to learn since i love to wade deep and get right into the river, but this winter i tried to wade as little as possible and found my days, in turn, were much longer and therefore more productive because i wasnt packing it in at 11am with frozen blocks for feet.

that said, i have a pair of korkers and love them. i don't double layer the socks because i find it makes the fit of the neoprene boot too tight which limits bloodflow (resulting in cold feet lol). if i know i'm gonna be out there a while and doing some wading i stick a pair of those toe-warmers on to my socks and they make a huge difference for me.
