Seems like a case of steelheaderoverestimatesitis.

I'm not going to make any calls without knowing the length, hard for me to even make a guess, looks anywhere from 6 to 12.

I used to think 8lbs was the upper limit for steelhead in Ontario and that claims of 10-15lb ones were bogus. I started weighing/measuring more of my catches last year and was quite surprised that a few steelhead were in the mid teens.

Yeah gbd I let the fish go. I wouldnt keep anything that big from lake O. Not sure if anyone can see the video to estimated size by the rod handle? But this is now 5-6 lb fish. Hater lol

No I just voice my opinion that I think it is VERY wasteful, different than bashing on someone for an honest mistake. Either way looks like the thread took a turn for the better anyways.

Try explaining that to a CO if they catch you fishing in a closed section of water. You think they would turn the other way and let you off with an honest mistake? We choose to take this sport and it's your own responsibility to know the rules. If you don't know them, you shouldn't be fishing.

lol are you? From what I understand the only time natives can fish in closed areas is when it is on their reserve such as the case on the saugeen at the dam. However that information came from a post I read on this forum so I cant guarantee its accuracy.

Dude--turn the other cheek. If it was an error of judgment, so be it. Move on and enjoy the imminent run of steelhead.....
Like all licensing you have to qualify and prove your abilities and knowledge (your license provides you with a privilege AND responsibility).

Oh, and BTW, you want abuse try OFN (there's plenty of it). For one I am pleased with the relative civility here at OFF.
