Out of curiosity, what time do you go fishing? Morning, afternoon, evening, or night?

For me, morning time because there are alot of fishing swimming in the ponds and I usually stay till noon to go for my lunch then home. Afternoon, there are like nothing at all because it sunny and fish goes and hide under the rocks. Night time, too dark and dangerous especially, Milne Dam pond as there are coyotes around and I have spotted one before. Kind of scary at evening or night but summer is fine since it gets dark at like 8pm-9pm.

Which part of Milne did you spot coyotes? I fish there till 9pm. Most of my fish are caught dusk. Early morning tons of carp. Night time is mostly bass and bullheads. Spotted a deer once and lots of turtles...herons and could possibly an eagle.

I usually try to go in the morning but I do go in the evening also, I haven't been fishing between noon and 5 pm in a long time, especially during the summer when the daytime is really hot. I've also read online that mornings and evenings are the best times to go fishing but the temperature factor during the day also plays a role.

Morning (try to get to the fishing hole by 5am) until 2pm, and night (7pm-9 or 11pm.

Coyotes aren't as scary as a guy smoking, holding something that looked like a bag of pot, leaning against a lamp post at 11pm in dunnville, while im minding my business, looking for eyes... Is it, eh?

I almost crapped my pants, especially when i went up to the car for my coffee and he looked at me lol. I cleared out pretty fast

5-9 AM and 7-9 PM. Usually only target bass but those times are hot and I love it.
These are the times where the smallies feed like crazy on my lake, basically the only time you can catch bass, and the best time for lakers too

pike/steelhead/salmon I'm not too picky about the time.

It's the first few hours of daylight for me. Steelheading during that time has always been pretty good. Heck, any time of day is good

+1...I have learned to appreciate spending time in water...which means...i'm off work and home chores are done. It doesn't really matter which part of the day I'm gearing up when I'm free.

I go all the time if I have free time

Went today with my dad at 6am-1030, one decent walleye.

If its bass or "summer" fish I try to go in the morning and evening 4-7pm

If its trout...they bit allllllllllllllllllllllll day baby

Hey Guys,

I've tried a few times to land a carp close to Milne Dam but no luck so far...

Can someone who had more success tell me what works in terms of bait and maybe point me to a good spot?

Thank you in advance,
Alex

Varies depending on weather, barometricpressure....etc....etc. Below is a usefull tool. Just type in the body of water you are looking for and city/ province, etc.
It will give you some very good accurate times to fish there. But if you you want to wing it, 5-9am or 6-9 pm.

Make sure you chum and area not bigger than 5'x5' all you can do after that is wait. Corn, nightcrawler, boilies, pineapple are good baits. Corn is good for chumming tho. On the otherside of Milne (bottom) I have caught carp (smaller) without chumming. they just go after nightcrawlers or whatever you have.

I have found the most success in the morning from (Just as the sun comes up so it depends on season) but 5am-9am once the sun is fully up success dwindles. During the day I have had the odd catch, as said prior fish in the rivers (at least from my expierence) go in deep pools and no matter how and what you present as bait they just wont bite. It picks up again from 6pm till the sun goes down.

This year for the steelie season opener we had our trailer out and we were ready to go at midnight. After walking to the rivers edge I said forget it, unless you are very familiar with the river there is no way for you to know how man FOW you are in. I do hope to try some night fishing one of these days

first light to last light and everything inbetween. I usually only fish one day a week so I like to get a good 12-14 hours in lol.

The few hours before and after dawn. Roads are empty, driving is easy. Cool, calm. The whole day stretches out before you.

I love evening too but hate the ticking timer... sun going down and maybe you're a ways from the car over bad ground.

Yep, definitely dawn, on a bass or trout river, or on a pier for slamon, is where it's at for me. You'll see some interesting things and catch some surprising fish.

I just wish it wasn't so early in the morning.
