Whats your definition of a Snagger?

50 lb bright orange braid, lol, even though you are using a leader, people may think you are snagging, there is no need to use that kind of line, even for salmon, all i use is 10 lbs main line and 8 lbs leader, if fishing with a shorter rod, like you stated, then 12 lb main line, 10 lb leader, try it out, not trying to make fun of you or anything, just a suggestion, i know it works for me, it will probably work for you and then you have a better chance of catching the fish too.
trust me I feel like a snagger with that line but it's the only hi vis line I have and I'm going trough the whole "I called fish on why didn't you pull out the line" nonsense I'm picking up neon green 10lb line tomorrow

you dont need hi-vis line in rivers, unless youre using a center-pin, even if you are its not a must, unless you fish in the winter, some do, i do, because i fish in the winter and use a center-pin, 10 lb will be perfect for november/december steelies.

Who sells neon green? I'd like that colour.

Ya I'm pretty sure it's suffix I'll let you know, tightlines is down the road not too far from my house I'll be picking it up from there

First off- I want to apologize to anyone I have offended with my comment of "lower quality waders" I myself do not own any high end waders or gear for that matter. I was refering to the yahoos on the water with garbage bags around thier legs and duck tape strapped to thier thighs and ankles. Not anything to do with brand. I worded it wrong.

Short rods often are medium or even heavy action rods. Which enable these "snaggers" to just horse the fish outta the water using a combination of strong line, short rod, large hook and heavy weights.

I am not labeling anyone on here as a snagger and never meant this thread to point anyone out.

A snagger is one that don't fallow the rules of fishing ,,fish with just a treble hook or a jig with no bait, Salmon do swim with there mouth open so often ppl will do long drifts and if they feel something jerk the line looks like its legit but it is not .. you can tell the difference from a true fisherman he or she will let it go knowing it was not a good hook set the others don't care some get caught some don't its all a part of fishing ,,

A snagger is some one that deliberately hooks or tries to hook a fish anywhere else but the mouth . As to whom that snagger most likely is, I would say a young male between the ages of 16 and 30, I don't think quality or cost of equipment has anything to do with it. It has more to do with male ego and a willingness to bend or break the rules in order to get what you want.

I agree to most of your statement except the age bracket...

so if someone gets it in the mouth without te fish wanting it, hes not a snagger? he still is, the fish has to bite on its own, without some guy shoving a micto-jig in its mouth, also why would you say something about age? age has nothing to do with it.

Would the members agree there is a "Fair game snagger" Meaning they have fullfilled thier legal responsibility of hooking the fish in the mouth by means of flossing?

Age has a lot to do with it. Most crimes are committed by males in that same age group, the most car accidents, the most littering and they are the most likely to break fish and game laws .

No apology needed... :) I think we all know you weren't targeting anyone
This is a good thread, its interesting to see everyone's opinion

Im going to say that anyone who knows that their hook, single or treble is in a spot that may hold a fish and they intentionally jerk their line is a snagger in my books. Yes im looking at float guys who "pop" their foats at the end of drift and fly guys who lift up a roll cast in the middle of a pool aggressively. My 2c
