    First trout, i think!

I discovered this spot a few years ago and was quite impressed on the lack of pressure due to how urban it is. A fair amount of fish definately get up this far considering downstream obstacles... With the how high the river is I'm sure fish will have no problem running up the barrier, but...

    Naming Rivers

You are exactly right, apparently the land owner has owned the river for over a hundred years giving him the right to own the river bed, therefor no wading is possible in that stretch unfortunately. The other side is also clearly marked private too with obnoxious 15 foot tall posts with no...

    Brown eats Brookie!!!

CANT go to a trout stream without them lol but... Nothing is more rewarding and than catching them on your own tied flies on the fly rod Especially dry flies ! (top water) My dad always gets frustrated when i use spinners because I basically "rape" the all the pools leaving him no fish...

    Brown eats Brookie!!!

Thanks everyone, the fish shown in the pictures were caught on small panther Martin spinners. I try to use the flyrod more but I must admit I'm more successful with my spinning gear. Although there are instances where flies can catch more than other methods when on certain rivers and weather...

    Fishing Near Bon Echo

Mazinaw can be tough for bass, walleye and pike due to its immense size and depth... The smaller back lakes apparently have much better fishing apparently. Senkos wacky rigged for bass and worm harnesses for bass + walleye produced best results whenever I've been there. If you have a boat go...

    Brown eats Brookie!!!

I had just encountered this about two weeks ago when dry fly fishing. Around a 5 inch brookie had tooken the fly and skittered across the pool until i feel a THUMP! I see a golden looking fish id say around 2-3 pounds and instantly knew a big brown had engulfed it! I actually fought the...

Last week I saw Hedrickson in the sky... Today its's

I have snow here too, I recognize that place on the bottom as well. I guess you didn't see' much steelies and the water seems to be pretty low and clear considering the snow. I suppose opener isn't going to be good, better off hunting browns and brookies in local headwaters...

    Upper Humber River

I 100% agree with your comment especially about the pond. I live very close to the area and fish it weekly with decent success in the spring, but at first I didn't believe there were many trout until I did some work. Unfortunately the residents are all opposed to getting rid of the pond. They...

    Czech nymphing for Steelhead

Is that when they put multiple nymphs on a dead drift system? I've recently noticed more off that fishing type on the credit in recent years. I've tried this kind of technique float fishing using a worm and an egg on the same system to determine what the fish wanted with good success.

    Twisting up some dry flies

Oh sorry I forgot to include sizes...For most flys it would range from 12-18 but depends the situation and river. For example the trout form the ground are often caught on 18-20 sized flys and even nymphs 22 while less pressured tribs you can generally go bigger

    Twisting up some dry flies

I've had good success with my tied dark and ligh hendricksons, light cahills , BWO, Adams, and grey fox. Those are just some, I'd also try some stimulaters and hoppers. Dry fly hackle isn't very cheap though.

.. cloudy and cool with fresh chrome in the forecast.

Nice fish! I visited the notty on Sunday too and got a record of fish for being nube with a spinning rod aha. Went 5/7 which I was happy with, although my biggest fish got away.. ( cursed logs of the notty!) It seemed like most fish were shakers based off other anglers and our catches...

    Notty Frozen?

Unfortuantly I was skunked, which is not uncommon for this river but based off other anglers the fishing was slow. Only action heard was talking to one fishermen who caught a couple shakers. The river is high and dirty and my normal slow area of the area was jammed with ice. I went to some...

    Credit river

I was wondering the same. If the fish from the the streetsville dam are constantly being moved then there should be some fish around?
