Some Costcos sell pfd's for a good price i.e $29-$39 each. I think BPS has some resonable prices for pfds as well.

or if you have the cash i suggest you get the mustang line of safety products. they are very nice

Forgot to mention check on kijiji or criagslist they usually have something on there at decent prices.

Hey, if your loking for something quick grab one at Canadian Tire for now and then grab a decent one sometime this summer when you come across the one you want, or a bargain. I dont suggest to anyone to buy something used thats a safety product. You dont know how they were stored or if they still meet the guidelines they once did, better safe then sorry and spend the extra $20 on something that floats then but a jacket that has been sitting in a boat for years or is just not what you expected.
Tottally your decision but as Mikey said "safety first".
Chris

Nice, good choice man, Im sure you wont regret it.
Better safe than sorry.

No worries man, and i dont know if you have one but walmart and Cndn Tire have them its a pale with a lid inside is a whistle rope, and a bunch of stuff that by law you need out in a boat, look it up online for the exact things to make sure you have them. I was stopped back at my cottage and didnt have a whistle to signal other boats i was in trouble, thankfully i cant whistle really loud with 2 fingers, and the cops let me get away with a warnign and i bough one of these kits shortly after their like $14.99 i thnk but worth it.
Have fun man.

I hope it went well!

you have a lifejacket now, so use it.
Chibi and I always wear our's whenever we're out on a boat/canoe. Some people use them as seat cushions or whatever and if something bad were to happen, they can't grab it and end up... you know.
I mean, if you can swim well, it's all good. But I'm a bad swimmer at best and chibi doesn't period.

We got ours at Canadian Tire... for a decent price too I think.

I agree, I used to sit on my jacket for a nice comfortable seat in the boat. Then i saw that commercial, not sure if anyone has seen it.
Its talking about how ya having them in the boat is one thing but wearing them is another, it shows two little kids sitting in a boat wearing life jackets looking at something in the water thats not in view, then the camera slowly moves and you seen what appears to be their dad/grandpa floating face down with no jacket on....So sad.
I heard of something similar happening up north somewere, a guy slipped in his boat and smaked his head knocked himself out and fell into the water, he drowned. It really does not matter how great of a swimmer you are, anything can happen. And on that note be safe this year everyone, even on shore, whatch your footing.

I highly recommend swimming lessons for those who can't swim and are often on a small boat. Even with a life jacket if you need to get out of the water(can be cold too) you need to be able to swim.
