Hello fellow musky anglers.

My name is Lawrence Skinner and I am a Muskies Canada (MCI) member from Collingwood and I am interested in starting a new MCI chapter in Barrie that would serve the Simcoe county and Muskoka regions. We have many people interested and we have been trying to get organized and move forward. We will be holding a meeting at 8pm Monday February 11th at The Clarkson Pub. It's a great venue right across the street from Lake Simcoe (Historic musky fishery currently being restored). If you are an avid musky angler from the area come to the meeting and meet some new people that share your interests. This meeting will be an informal meet and greet where we will discuss getting the chapter off the ground. This will eventually lead to tall tales about long fish and a really good time.

The pub is about 5 minutes off HWY 400 and there is plenty of free parking across the street by the lake. They have good food and lots of taps. I have included a link that shows the pub's location. My link

Thanks and see ya there.

Hi everyone,

We had a meeting on Monday February 11th and I must say that is was a very successful. We had more than a dozen people show and got some great momentum to get this chapter up and running. There were a few minutes where everyone got to introduce themselves and discuss their backgrounds and experiences and why they want to have an MCI chapter in Barrie. We got a petition started with more than a dozen names to be submitted in a couple of weeks at the Muskies Canada Board of Directors meeting. Johnny Dadson generously donated half a dozen of his Dadson Blade Baits to the prize table and we had a number of long time members from other chapters come and show their support. In all it was a very positive experience and I’m optimistic that we are headed in the right direction.

So on to our next meeting. It will be held at the Clarkson Pub once again in downtown Barrie on March 4th at 8:00pm. Johnny Dadson will be our guest speaker and the topic of his presentation will be Georgian Bay Giants. Johnny is a full time fisherman and bait maker who will be discussing fishing techniques, and his legendary handcrafted bucktails. He will have some lures to sell at the meeting ranging between $15-$40. He has landed some huge fish on these great looking baits but don’t take my word for it. Check Dadson Blade Baits out on Facebook or @ http://www.dadsonbladebaits.com/.

By the next meeting we hope to have some people step forward and volunteer as chapter executives. We need 5 executives and a minimum of 12 members to get full chapter status. I am confident there are a few people who can step up and volunteer as executives to help us achieve this goal.

Also we hope to have another prize table. We would be grateful if anyone would like to donate new musky lures to the table. Tickets will be $2 each and all the money raised will go to the chapter and its future endeavours. The first winner has the choice of one prize on the table. The next winner can take one of whatever is left and so on… So bring some cash to purchase tickets for the prize table and to buy some Dadson Blade Baits.

Finally we need more names on the petition. If you are not already on the petition send me your name, address, phone number, email, chapter affiliation (if you have one) and your membership number. If you are not currently a member you can join @ http://www.muskiescanada.ca/. New memberships are $40, renewals are $50. For those of you who signed the petition please send me your membership number.

Hope to see you at our next meeting.

Lawrence Skinner
