Salmon pier fishing 2016

I'm working on setting up a kayak for fishing, I'll be out by this weekend in Lake Huron. Temps look like they are going to drop off and the rain (if we get it) should cool things down.

I get excited every time someone posts in this thread. I'm waiting for the first pic. :)
I saw your kayak fishing vids and they pushed me to dig out the old kayak. I'll be paddling it unlike your fishing machine (lol) but hopefully it'll do! I'll post some pics once I get it set up. I have solo-trolled in canoes but if the wind picks up you can be at its mercy, I think kayaks are safer for solo great lakes trolling. I just picked up a little hummingbird fish finder today as well, I have never used/had one so I used this project as an excuse to get one.

i was out fishing the other day and saw a guy using 2 rods. is that legal? i thought i read somewhere the only place we were able to use 2 rods is while trolling on lake ontario or something like that.

definitely illegal...if both lines are in the water.

2 lines, in the water, floats, river noodle rods, fishing on simcoe at a bridge/canal. i was gonna say something, but i wasnt 100% sure, i was with my daughter, and he looked like a grumpy old guy

You can use 2 lines per person when fishing off a boat in Lake Ontario. Not sure about the other great lakes.

Ice fishing you can use 2 rods, trolling in the great lakes you can use 2 rods. If i see someone illegally fishing with 2 rods I say something...sometimes you have to educate others. If they know what they are doing is illegal and don't care, they take a swim....simple.

They were getting em a few weeks ago but wind directions and this heat wave have caused the surface temps to shoot back up again. Timing wise it isn't too early but based on the current conditions there probably isn't much happening. We need a good sustained North wind to flip the lake over again and get those temps down.

Due to climate changes hatcheries will be rearing snook tuna and marlin .
Lake O now considered an Ocean.

friday and saturday there is a good chance of rain, as well as lower temps, sunday is looking for a low chance of precipitation along with 20 degree temps from 3 am on to about 10am @ 22

This has probably been the most sensible thing said.

Obviously these fish dont have a timer, the early fish are often following bait into the shallows feeding up before getting ready to spawn. Depending on what river you are looking at this could happen at anytime over the course of the summer. I am lucky(dumb) enough to be able to fish frequently and have caught chinook as early as july 12th. This year my first came on the 20th of july, we've even been catching the odd brown/white bass/drum/perch so by no means has it been boring, just go gas is cheap right now
