Oh they definitely have a timer.
Rain or not they'll run the rivers.
I've seen them forced to run the rivers in 8 inches of water.
Very sad sight.
Netter and snagger dream come true.

Simplified comparison.
You can only hold a sh#t for so long. Lol
Perfect analogy. Forcing it only give you friends you don't want.

And we've all been there "turtle heading"

Hahah

With the rains that have hit us last two days plus some nice winds has anyone gone out to try any pier fishing last 48 hours? My buddy's going tonight to an Eastern pier not sure if I will go or not

Always the chance to hit something.
Local storm alert in effect till like 3am.
Some of these composite rods are like holding a personal lightning rod. Lol

I might go to the mouth of a Huron trib tomorrow, we'll see how the weather is.

Local reports saying rain winds will die around 11pm might go try the morning bite on the eastern piers might go earlier if my buddy's have luck lol. I'll post if lucky the mud line should be good

eastern pier saw 3 salmon, 1 dead and floating, 1 caught, brown and decaying, 1 jumping, attacking a stick. none up the ladder yet.

Good
I hate sticks too
Puncture my waders

Too wavy to get out deep in the Kayak at the mouth of a southern Huron trib. It was a good trial run of my fish finder mount and stuff. Now my understanding of the marine forecast is a bit better, hopefully next time I'll get it right.

Fished a western trib mouth with a variety of spoons mid-morning. Was probably too far up from mud-line (thanks to a little man with me). Out for about an hour, zero hits.

We had ok night 4 of us one caught. Started 10pm finished 6am. Few others their trying one old guy hooked into two lost the big one landed one small buck 6-7 Pounds. But that was it all night not much jumping odd one that's it tho. Water very dirty maybe when it cleans up will be better. Still better then nothing first one landed for any of my group.

Yea my buddy got that one still nice to see one this year finally. Fished long and hard for that one lol. Like I said not much going on tho but I think dirty water had somthing to do with that too. We get more rain Tuesday hopefully with the cooler week get more luck next week or two. Still nice to get out with the boys

Beauty Berman!

K, I have two questions for you 'pros' out there:
1) Will 10lbs mono be enough to fight one of these?
2) Do you tend to keep or C&R?
Today was the first day ever attempting to catch one and I had that little voice in my head going 'you have no idea what you're doing!'

I read the post from a while ago about how to Salmon Pier Fish (that's how I found this forum) and it was great. But I was still wondering what people thought.

Cheers in advance for the tips.

You guys certainly earned it.
I can't even imagine standing on concrete casting for 8 hrs anymore.
Hope you brought a couple cold ones.

Certainly no Pro.
But 10 lbs no problem to use.
That's all I use trolling lake O.
Main thing is line capacity if they decide to run to Toronto. Lol
I'll keep the shakers in spring.
I release the big ones.
