I appreciate that those shoes cover the toes, but I like mine to be inside something less wiggly.caddisking said:those babies cover the toes jacklake...i wear them for portaging they are awesome
No loss in grip yet, Brian. These are some of the most durable shoes I've owned!Brian said:I like the look of these MFG. You notice any loss of grip on these at all? I love the vibram soles, but think they wear away reasonably fast. (Or maybe I just use mine way too much)
In response to the post, I usually use my wading boots in the summer because they dry of really fast and have all the support I need to get around obstacles. (climbing and such)

Personally I would go with your idea. Those neoprene socks + wading boots are perfect for wet wading. Theres a lot of hiking and slippery snot on the rocks even in summer. You want to be in your good wading boots. Your toes will still get wrinkly, but you wont have to worry about pebbles and blisters.
Cabelas.ca sells neoprene socks if SAIL doesnt have them
They also sell stocking-foot hipwaders too. They kind that go up just below the groin and clip to your belt. Personally I prefer the hipwaders because like OP mentioned, nettles, hogweed and ivy sucks! So do leeches! I wear light khaki shorts underneath and its not too bad.
I recently had a huge issue with Simms customer service and a pair of faulty waders. Long story short, I ditched all Simms products and started buying LL Bean products. The LL Bean guarantee is untouchable by any other company and their quality is amazing. If you have a problem with some of their waders, ship them back for a new pair... free waders for life anyone? (obviously other then shipping cost back to them - which is $10 in Canada).FisherGirl said:Leeches!!! How could I forget about those?
You know, I love the guys at Sail but once or twice their advice was a little off. I have been talked out of purchases (during those 20% off everything days) only to figure out on my own that I DID need the product and had to go back a few days later to buy it....and at full retail price since the sale was over!
But anyway, thats a good idea, maybe I will look into a pair of hip waders

Anxiously awating hotter days, I cannot stop thinking about fly fishing this summer.
What do y'all wear on your feet while wet wading?
I assumed my wading boots and neo's but the guys at Sail keep telling me to use water shoes instead. Thoughts??
This photo has me
I can't wait to make more mods to my dingy! the picture angle makes mine look small but trust me...its big
I used to have that exact same rubber boat!!! Until we took it out salmon trolling one fall and a bow ripped one of the layers then another one and another, lol, then we got a real boat, haha.
LLBEAN! YES! I forgot!GuitarBuildingAngler said:I recently had a huge issue with Simms customer service and a pair of faulty waders. I bought a pair of LL Bean Kennebec waist waders. I find chest waders way too hot. I know those are not anything like wet wading but maybe some good waist waders would work for you?
