Berkley Vanish is garbage IMO.

I was gonna say that too, but I was scared openfire uses it lol.

Berkley has a professional grade fluorocarbon that i've been using at trout ponds with good success on a fly rod.

lol, nah. I tried when it first came out (late 90's ish?), for salmon in fact and I haven't bought another spool of it since. So, unless this product has changed in the last 10 years or so, you'll not see me using it. Maybe "garbage" is a strong word, but I did not like it at all.

So could I just use 20 LB braid as my main line connected to the hook/lure without any leaders?

Sure you can at night or when the water is dirty, This is when the chinook are less spooky.

If you are casting lures, it shouldn't matter too much at all.

Re: Erindale park

Rapala Boy....would you be able to elaborate a bit on Salmon in Erindale. I went by the river last weekend (Saturday) and didn't see anything walking through the park. That would mean that Salmon started to run either on Sunday, or Monday. Are there Salmon running (1-2) every couple hours, days ....what did you see in the time you were there and when did you go?

I've tried scouring other forums and googling for results but can find anything. Any info you could share would really help. If its worth the 2.5hr trip i'd come down this weekend.

Much Appreciated

Re: Erindale park

Popeye, I would look at spots 21 and 22 bellow dundas if your gonna do a 2 hour drive.
There's always fish at the ice breakers, but getting them is challenging. Especially for a newb like me.
Sunglasses is an absolute must for locating them by sight.
A lot of times you can tell there's fish there if there's lots of anglers crowded in one spot.
I started fishing it 8 hours a day and 3-4 times a week last week and have learned many new things.
My father easily drops me off before he goes to work so I'll be giving lots of updates.
I can't wait to see what it's gonna be like tomorrow!

Re: Fishing lines for salmon and trout

I am new to salmon fishing, So that's why I have so many questions.
Which line is better for salmon 20LB Mono or 20LB braid?

Re: Erindale park

Appreciate the update RapalaBoy. Will give those areas a go and see what turns up!

Thanks Again.

Good Luck today.

When do they go on sale at Le baron's

http://www.lebaron.ca/ Check the website often, and/or give them a call. They just had a no tax sale that ended on Labour Day weekend. There's always something coming up, you just have to check. And their prices are generally low to begin with.

Re: Where are some hot Spots At Erindale Park?

Try here.

Immediately in front of the icebreakers there's a pool that will hold fish. Go there on the weekend and you will catch fish. Bring your protective gear as it may get rough

Re: Where are some hot Spots At Erindale Park?

Are you referring to the south side or the North side of the ice-breakers, And do you mean within 10 feet of the breakers?

Re: Where are some hot Spots At Erindale Park?

Just curious to know why you said to go on the weekend to catch salmon, what's the difference with saturday and week days?

Re: Where are some hot Spots At Erindale Park?

Most of the action is on the north side of the breakers.

I think he means when the water clears up after the rain this weekend the fishing's really gonna pick up. Even above Dundas.
