ya it works extremely well for nymphing because they are most often 11 plus feet some spey rods get up to 16 feet if you want to try maybe at some point we can get together i can bring my 10 ft 7 wt single hand and my switch rod and you can try them both

That would be great, At least i"ll have something to go off of before making a purchase.

You tell me when are where lol.

Im out of country until next

Oh ok, So this would be the same as the traditional with the added benefit of being able to use 2 handed with the spey technique? It will function fine nymphing etc right?

These questions may seem retarded but I have no clue about this lol, I just dont want to look back on this decision wishing I had bought a different rod

yes, i got an opprotunity to fish with bob mckenzie from sage back in the spring, he had a 9 ft 7wt switch with him, he used it for nymphing very well, and like mad has said, some are longer than other, the longer ones are designed for larger river systems, but if your fishing anything other than the saugeen, grand or notty, a 9-10ft will be plenty of length

they do tend to be more expensive then single handed rods and theres stigma that its hard to learn i mean it is different but once you figure it out it doesnt take long to learn it for the most part its all based on a modified roll last witch is called a single spey. aa i start a new job next week so its a write off for me too but we can figure something out

Sounds good! Cheers

it really isnt i find it easy but it takes so time to get use to there are lots of events during the year to learn to like the grand river spey clave, grand opportunities and others and you can try the gear as well

a guy i met on the ganny did this, take 2 steps, spey cast, wait, 2 steps spey cast wait, he was targeting aggressive fish, and its a good way of reaching fish before they see you

ya it is especially on big water

not a 2 handed rod but Ive read some decent reviews,http://www.ebay.com/itm/Echo-Ion-Fly-Fishing-Fly-Rod-7wt-10ft-0in-4pc-/190763361369?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c6a61e459

any thoughts? I might start with the traditional, then once the needle pricks the vein after Ive gained some experience with the traditional I can move up

aa thats how i did now i have been bitten by the spey bug now i want a 4 wt spey to toss dry flies on or at lease try to and see if it works and if it doesnt its always a great streamer rod for summer trout on bigger rivers

its always worth a try its on the list of rods i want to buy this year i think im at 5 or 6 god its gonna be a pricey year

this is my 6 year fly fishing and fav fish right now its brown trout on a dry fly but i love brookies too i love steel heading but theres nothing like dry fly fishing seeing a trout rise and sip your fly is just about the coolest thing you will ever see

we need some rain the waters down its making it hard to fish im hoping to get out at some point before it gets to cold
